“Unite For Good” 2025-26 Rotary International President
The 2025–26 Rotary International President Francesco Arezzo’s theme and overarching goal for Rotary is to “Unite for Good”. President Arezzo is calling Rotarians to be a unifying force for good in an increasingly divided world through Rotary service to bridge political, geographic, and ideological divides, to think boldly and creatively. In this podcast, he emphasizes creating “one great shared dream for Peace” that inspires members to work together across backgrounds to bring peace in their Rotary Clubs, communities and around the world and together change lives.• The 2025–26 Rotary International theme “Unite for Good” focuses on Rotary as a force for unity, bringing together people of different races, religions, professions, and viewpoints to expand our reach. Unite speaks to the strength we find in each other.• President Arezzo stresses that Rotarians should see Rotary as something they do, not just a meeting they attend, and that clubs should build service projects which strengthen cooperation and understanding among Club members.

With the world facing incredible challenges, disasters driven by climate change, and conflict in many regions, President Stephanie says, “Measures taken by Rotary leadership to survive and end critical challenges often make our organization stronger and more resilient for future events,” she says. “Because Rotary operates in more than 200 countries and regions, it is vital to recognize that the organization has the potential to become more efficient and effective in advancing world understanding, goodwill, and peace.”

This course addresses a central challenge facing societies today: What can unarmed civilians do when militaries attack, invade, or occupy their communities? What real alternatives exist beyond fighting back with violence? Prevention is always the best strategy, and it becomes possible when societies commit to the pursuit of peace by peaceful means. Yet in an increasingly militarized world, communities also need practical and credible methods of protection when violence breaks out. This course responds to that need by exploring the why, what, and how of Unarmed Civilian Defense (UCD) — a proven, people-powered approach for safeguarding civilians and resisting violence without weapons.
Across six learning modules, three optional live sessions, and an end-of-course strategy simulation, participants will explore how UCD has been used to counter invasion, occupation, dictatorship, and war. The course draws on insights from peace and conflict studies, civil resistance, unarmed civilian protection, human rights, community security, social movements, and media and communications, offering a grounded understanding of both theory and practice. Through global case studies, practical tools, and collaborative learning with a diverse cohort, participants will gain concrete strategies for defending life, dignity, and democracy through people-powered action — without war.
