Speaker, Sam Daley-Harris, author of Reclaiming Our Democracy, Every Citizen’s Guide to Transformational Advocacy, discussed the importance of transformational advocacy in reclaiming our democracy. Sam shared stories of individuals who experienced transformation through advocacy, such as Maxine Thomas, who went from being clueless about advocacy to feeling euphoric after her first meeting with a member of Congress.

David J. Smith is an educator, consultant, and career coach focusing on the fields of conflict resolution, peacebuilding, and humanitarian action. He is the president of the Forage Center for Peacebuilding and Humanitarian Education, Inc., a 501c3 not-for-profit that offers experiential learning opportunities for students and professionals.
He has worked at the U.S. Institute of Peace, taught at a range of schools including Georgetown University, Drexel University, American University and currently at the Carter School at George Mason. Ambassador Chowdhury is a Bangladeshi diplomat most noted for his work on development in the poorest nations, global peace and championing the rights of women and children. In a speech he gave in 2005, Chowdhury stated: "We should not forget that when women are marginalized, there is little chance for an open and participatory society." The Hon. Douglas Roche, O.C., is an author, parliamentarian and diplomat, who has specialized throughout his 50-year public career in peace and human security issues. He lectures widely on peace and nuclear disarmament themes. Mr. Roche was a Senator, Member of Parliament, Canadian Ambassador for Disarmament, and Visiting Professor at the University of Alberta. He was elected Chairman of the United Nations Disarmament Committee at the 43rd General Assembly in 1988.

Ben Ferencz was a war hero but never felt that he was. He was sickened to the core by his experience of battling through Europe in 1945 – and of uncovering horrific evidence of war crimes, atrocities and genocide. And so he decided to do something about it. He was an American lawyer and an investigator of Nazi war crimes after World War II and the chief prosecutor for the United States Army at the Einsatzgruppen trial, one of the 12 subsequent Nuremberg trials held by US authorities at Nuremberg, Germany.

Al Jubitz joined Rotary in 1977 as a third generation Rotarian and is Past President of the 2002-2003 Rotary Club of Portland. Al believes that Rotary is uniquely capable of turning the world toward nonviolent conflict resolution, ultimately leading to a world beyond war. He is the founder of the Rotarian Action Group for Peace.
On January 15, 2025, the Merchants of Death War Crimes Tribunal held a press conference announcing the verdicts of the jurors as to the guilt or innocence of U.S. weapons makers in the commission of war crimes, crimes against humanity, and genocide. Several of the jurors spoke at this press conference.
